Bluestone_Health_AssociationA local Bluefield healthcare center has just secured over $1.1 million in federal funds to help provide medical services to area residents.

West Virginia senators carved out almost $10 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The Bluestone Health Association in Princeton will receive $1,172,228 out of the total allocation. The funding will help their facilities provide the best possible preventive care, treatment and health services, especially to our children, veterans and seniors.

Bluestone Health Association primarily operates the Bluestone Health Center, a non-profit healthcare organization that’s dedicated to providing low-cost or free healthcare to the greater Bluefield region.

The facility treated 16,039 patients in 2012, and now with its new funding it’s hoping to significantly increase that number, especially in free preventative care.
